August 15 Rick Shoaf Memorial Ride

RESCHEDULED DUE TO RAIN - Join us on Saturday, August 15, 2026, for a special group ride on the Chester Valley Trail in memory of Richard “Rick” Shoaf, Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association member, volunteer first responder, and friend to many in our community. Rick died in the line of duty August 18, 2001, and we will honor him with a ride together on the trail he would have enjoyed.

Rick was known as the “Bike Man,” always helping people by picking up, repairing, and returning bicycles in and around Swarthmore. If he fixed your bike, this ride is for you.

All proceeds from this ride will benefit the Hero Scholarship Fund of Delaware County, supporting the families of fallen first responders.

First responders, volunteer firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, and community supporters are encouraged to participate.

Ride Information

• $25 - $50 - $100 per rider (chose your donation at checkout)
• Bring your own bike or rent an e-bike
• Limited rental e-bikes available
• Advance registration required
• All proceeds donated to the Hero Scholarship Fund

Participants using rental e-bikes must arrive at 9:30 AM for fitting and instructions.
