Daily Cleaning & Sanitization (After Each Use)

  1. Pre-inspection:
    • Check helmets for visible dirt, sweat, or damage.
    • Separate damaged helmets for repair or disposal.
  2. Surface Cleaning:
    • Dampen a microfiber cloth or sponge with warm soapy water.
    • Gently wipe down the outer shell and inner padding.
    • Use a soft brush for tougher dirt spots.
  3. Disinfecting:
    • Spray the inner padding and straps with an EPA-approved disinfectant.
    • Allow it to sit for the recommended dwell time.
    • Wipe off any excess with a clean cloth.
  4. Air Drying:
    • Place helmets in a well-ventilated area to air dry.
    • Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources to prevent material degradation.
  5. UV Sanitization (if available):
    • Place helmets in a UV sanitizing station for additional germ elimination.
  6. Storage:
    • Once dry, store helmets in a clean, designated area away from dirt and moisture.

Weekly Deep Cleaning

  1. Remove Padding & Straps (if detachable):
    • Wash with mild detergent and warm water.
    • Rinse thoroughly and air dry completely.
  2. Deep Clean Exterior:
    • Wipe down the outer shell with a damp cloth and mild soap.
    • Disinfect thoroughly, ensuring no residue remains.
  3. Reassembly & Inspect:
    • Once all components are dry, reattach the padding and straps.
    • Inspect for wear and tear before returning to circulation.

Additional Best Practices:

  • Helmets should not be shared without cleaning.
  • Replace helmets showing signs of wear, cracks, or degraded padding.
  • Train staff on proper sanitation procedures.
